Thank you for your interest in booking a custom cake with The Ottawa Cake Lady. Below you will find the answers to some of my most frequently asked questions:

Q: Do you design wedding cakes?
No. At this time, I have stepped away from wedding cake orders.

Q: How far in advance should I book?
I will always do my best to take short notice orders. My schedule typically books up about one month in advance, so in order to avoid disappointment, please book your order as far in advance as possible.

Q:When do I need to pay for my cake?
One-half (1/2) of the total amount of the cake is required as a deposit for my services at the time of booking, payable by credit card (Square electronic invoicing), cash or e-transfer. The remaining balance is due at pickup.

Please note that your order is not booked/held into my schedule without a booking deposit.

Q: What is your refund policy?
The 50% booking deposit is non-refundable, so please be aware of this when placing your order.

Q: Do you deliver?
All orders are pickup in Stittsville only.

Q: Do you do free tastings and consultations?
I only bake to order, so I do not keep extra cake on hand for samples.

Q: I have my own recipe. Will you use it to bake my cake?
No. I only add new flavours and recipes when I have perfected it to my standards. My full menu is listed in the “Ordering Information and Menu” page.

Q: Do you rent cake stands?
No, at this time I do not rent cake stands. The cake is placed on a white or silver cake drum (a heavy-duty cake board) for easy placement on any cake stand that you wish to provide at the event.

Q: Do you make “fake” or Styrofoam layers?
Yes, I can add fake tiers or design fully artificial cakes. Please be aware that the same amount of work, time, and detail is put into your cake whether it is cake or Styrofoam, so there is no difference in cost.
